Types of Stress

First a little about the different stresses so we can understand which EO's will be best for the type of stress one is experiencing. Physical stress comes from physical activities which people relate to exercise or sport injuries. Physical actually includes those as well standing on your feet for long period of time, traveling that sets off your body's time clock, sleeping too much or too little, chasing kids around all day, these are all types of physical stress. Emotional stress is the most common stress. This stress can come from any emotional conflict one is going through. This type of stress can happen due to divorce, bullying, fighting with your spouse or children, the death of love one, lost of employment, even a speeding ticket could cause stress for some. It really depends on the individual if a situation is going to cause stress and how intense it will be.

Traumatic stress occurs from physical traumatic situations in one's life. This including physical trauma to one's body, car accidents, stress from surgery, discovering about a terminal illness, even intense pain from an accident can cause traumatic stress.

Types of essential oils for stress Now that we understand a little about some of the different types of stress I would like to tell you about some essential oils that can help with this stress. Depending on the stress will depend on which essential oil will be the best one to use

For physical stress, you may need essential oil that can help with inflammation, spasms, and bruising due to exercises or sports injuries. Essential oils that can help you relax can help with sleep induce stress. Relaxing and calming oils can also help with at the end of the day from daily stresses. Essential oils for emotional stress would be more of the oils that can calm your mind and ease the emotional pain. Uplifting essential oils can also help with emotional stress. Traumatic stress may require essential oils not only dealing with the physical pain from the trauma but also the emotional stress you would be dealing with from the trauma.

Essential oils Each essential oil has an over abundance of chemicals with different therapeutic properties for each oil. Knowing these which chemicals are in the oils lets us know which one to use for different conditions. With that being said here are some of the essential oils that specifically can help with stress conditions. For physical stress, Black Pepper is a great choice. Black Pepper is good for inflammation, pain due to sport-related injuries. Helichrysum is useful for muscles and tendon damage as well as inflammation and bruising. Peppermint is great for localized pain. White Spruce is also good for inflammation, pain relief, and muscle/joint pain. For emotion stress, Bergamot can be used for depression and anxiety. German Chamomile can sooth the nervous system. Clary Sage can be uplifting and relieve tension and stress. Frankincense is calming for the mind. Patchouli can reduce stress, depression, and anxiety.

With Traumatic Stress some of the same oils may be used at a less diluted strength you would use for the other two. Remember to always dilute the essential oils for safety reasons. There are three that have not been mentioned that may be a better choice for trauma. To start off with you could add the essential to a trauma oil blend that would enhance the effects of trauma. The essential oils you could add is one Sandlewood due to the properties for anxiety, depression, and inflammation due to stress-related aches and pains as well as tension. Siberian Fir is another one I like to use. It is very good for tension aches and pains. Spikenard can calm the head and relax the mind and also has inflammation and stress-related aches and pains properties. The last I will mention is Vetiver has a deep calming grounding aroma and also good for muscle tension from stress. These are just a few essential oils that could help with stress.
